Cleric Subclass
Word Domain
Speak Truth and Make All Listen
The Word Domain treats language as the force that undergirds reality. Clerics who wield this magic are heralds who dictate the flow of battle, inspiring heroism in their allies and imposing edicts upon their enemies.
Gods of this domain are patrons of truth, law and prophecy. Their power is sought by judges, peacekeepers and dictators who seek to unmask grand deceptions or to forge unbreakable alliances.
Level 3 Word Domain Spells
Your connection to this divine domain ensures you always have certain spells ready. When you reach a Cleric level specified in the Word Domain Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Cleric Level | Prepared Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Command, Heroism, Suggestion, Zone of Truth |
| 5 | Sending, Tongues |
| 7 | Compulsion, Divination |
| 9 | Geas, Rary’s Telepathic Bond |
Level 3 Hope and Havoc
As a Magic action, you expend one use of your Channel Divinity to choose a number of creatures you can see within 60 feet of yourself, up to your Proficiency Bonus. For each chosen creature, apply one of the following effects:
- Hope. The creature has Advantage on the next D20 Test it makes before the end of your next turn.
- Havoc. The creature must succeed on a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC or have Disadvantage on the next D20 Test it makes before the end of your next turn.
Level 3 Divine Orator
You have Advantage on any Charisma (Persuasion) check you make that involves speaking. Moreover, as long as you do not have the Incapacitated condition, no effect (such as Silence) can prevent you from speaking or providing the Verbal components of your spells.
Level 6 Blessed Herald
As a Magic action, you touch a willing creature to make it your herald until you finish a Long Rest. You and your herald can communicate aloud to one another across any distance, provided you are both on the same plane of existence. Moreover, you can treat your herald as the point of origin for any Cleric spell you cast that has a Verbal component.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest.
Level 17 Word Perfect
Once per turn, when you cast a leveled Cleric spell that has a Verbal component, you can immediately apply either the Hope or Havoc effect to one creature of your choice within 60 feet of yourself.
